Training for farm cooperative members in Halleye localities of Hargeisa District , Maroodi jeex Region , Somaliland .

On 12th – 13th May 2015, a consultative meeting organized by Golis organization brought together more than 45 cooperative members from different farms of Halleye village of Hargeisa district to participate a training seminar organised by Golis Organisation for saving the Environment (GOLIS). The training was  about some of the issues and challenges/constraints that cooperative organisation is faced with, as well as possible solutions for their developments in the future.

The meeting was held in Halleye School and the main objective was to facilitate the cooperative members to debate and brainstorm threats facing their agricultural practices and the productions, in order to sustain their livelihood and food security, and to reduce challenges and barriers that limit crop and livestock productivity. The selected workshop participants composed of both women and men, and they debated on historical prospective of their farm cooperative, current status of their production, lesson learned during their farm cooperative services, gaps of cooperative organization constitution and the implementation of organization’s policies and other    challenges related to their production with recommendation of possible solutions.

 

The meeting was participatory approach and also enhanced the role of farm cooperative members to brainstorm and identify their gaps in terms of knowledge /skills, and other needs that concern of farm cooperative needs. The discussion was fruitful and each participant had access to express his or her concern.
